Natsu Matsuri

Natsuri Matsuri, Watsonville Taiko's annual summer festival, is one of our most colorful and popular celebrations of the year. Invoking the spirit of festivals which take place in communities all over Japan during July and August, the event showcases traditional Japanese food, cultural demonstrations, arts and crafts, and of course, music! Scheduled events include kimono and flower arranging demonstrations, traditional singing and dance, and the featured Watsonville Taiko performance. An outdoor kid zone invites children to try their hands at calligraphy, origami, and doll making, dress up in kimono, and listen to a storyteller. The afternoon culminates with the closing of the highly spirited silent auction and the popular raffle, with many unique, handmade Japanese items.
